A Comprehensive R4 ride review

"In summary, the Renovo has been jaw-dropping impressive with its stunning ability to absorb bumps and provide a smooth ride while also remaining stiff and nearly flex-free when standing on the pedals."

R4 VS. Cervelo carbon SLC

" the R4 was noticeably smooth and quiet, where Fangio (my Cervelo SLC) is loud and mean. Worse than that, Fangio bites... At 18 pounds, the Renovo might seem heavy on paper, but the weight seemed trivial to me, if not an advantage...it climbs just as well as any top-end carbon bike."

Sea Otter Feedback:

Cycelicious rides and reviews the R4:

...this wood laminate bike seems to do a superb job of absorbing road bumps while still giving me a lively ride. The R4 pursuit provides a much smoother ride than any carbon bike I’ve tried...

Roadbike Action Magazine:

"As always the Sea Otter pits were brimming with lots of cool bikes, but the crown jewels of the weekend assuredly belonged to the beautifully hand crafted wood bikes built by Renovo."

Road Bike Review Forums:

"I saw the Renovo bikes at Sea Otter 2010 and had a short ride on the R4 and R2. First impression was the ride was sweet. Not dead or lifeless. Good vibration moderation. Not sluggish. I did not have the opportunity to climb but overall very favorable. The frames are beautiful heirloom worthy pieces. Weight is comparable to steel and titanium frames."

RR4 Pursuit, black walnut and Port Orford cedar

Renovo R4 Pursuit, Wenge, Padauk, Sapele

The Pursuit is a stiff, powerful and lightweight frame; it's a joy to ride and it never fails to be the center of attention in any gathering of bikes.

"The first time I rode my new Renovo I wanted to write a review stating how much I loved it, but I thought I should wait until I spent some serious time in the saddle. Now having put three months and at least a thousand miles on my bike I can tell you that it is by far the smoothest and best handling bike that I have ever ridden. The bike has been on mostly climbs and descents and handles beautifully. I have a 2010 Trek 6.9 Madone and every time I ride them back to back I actually ride  quicker on the Renovo. The Trek is a great bike but I feel more fatigued after a long ride. The finish and quality of the R4 is phenomenal and it is stealthy quiet. A final note, I usually ride only mountain bike in the winter but this year I have equally spent time on the road because I love this bike so much and this has been the coldest winter we've had in years. Great job to everyone at Renovo and special thanks to Mark for his dedication to building me a priceless bike!"  -JR, February, 2011
